Severe storms yesterday brought golf-ball sized hail to parts of eastern Colorado, according to the National Weather Service.
Showers or thunderstorms that produce heavy rain, small hail and wind gusts up to 35 mph are possible in the mountains near Park County this afternoon and evening. Strong to severe storms may form over the southern San Luis Valley and surrounding mountains, with quarter-sized hail and 60 mph wind expected, NWS meteorologists said.
Tuesday’s high will be around 89 degrees and temperatures will continue to rise throughout the week. The heat wave currently hitting the West Coast is expected to move through Colorado Friday through Sunday, bringing near-record high heat with highs in the 100s across the urban corridor and plains, according to the NWS.
