Park users are being consulted about changes that will make the much-loved park more accessible
A councillor has asked for reassurance that access to Falkirk 's Callendar Park will be improved after an ambulance was unable to reach a man who had taken ill.
He was told that the council will be looking at the design of gateways as part of the plan, although all current events should be risk assessed to ensure that access is available. Originally a medieval deer park used for hunting, over the centuries its various owners have made their mark. In the very near future, another grant has allowed new cycling trails to be created with facilities - including a defibrillator - in what was the Par 3 course clubhouse.
One of the promises being made is that Falkirk Council residents will be consulted on spending in the park. It also wants to see better signage, making clear where the park's facilities are and also telling visitors about its history and heritage.A start is being made with £150,000 from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and people who use the park have been asked to vote for their priorities.
