Provisional figures for 2023 are available and there were seven fatal casualties during that period.
Provisional figures for 2023 are now available and councillors have been told there were seven fatal casualties during that period. East Kilbride councillor John Anderson told the South Lanarkshire Council Performance and Review Scrutiny Forum: “The number of road casualties is at amber. We set a target of 284 in 2023 and went over that by 86 to 370. Amber is a minor issue.
Compared with the same period in 2022, there were 284 casualties. Of these, there were 10 fatalities, 84 serious casualties and 190 slight casualties. Despite the increase, overall casualty figures in 2023 fell by 36 per cent, compared to the 2014-18 baseline and the overall annual trend is downwards.
Meanwhile, the same meeting heard that the Business Support service supported 829 businesses during 2023-24, significantly lower than the target of 1200.
