Somewhere to try in the new year

Construction work has started on a new sushi restaurant which is set to open on one of the busiest city streets in Nottingham. KOKORO, based on Exchange Walk just off Market Square, is expected to open on January 6.

KOKORO has more than 50 branches across the UK, including London and Leicester, but this is the first Nottingham branch. It is also available through Deliveroo in cities where there are stores, suggesting it may be the same for Nottingham once it officially opens. KOKORO was started just over a decade ago by founder Rak-Kyu Park in Kingston-Upon-Thames with just three tables available for customers. It offers authentic, handmade Korean and Japanese dishes both hot and cold. KOKORO stands for 'heart', 'soul' and 'spirit' which the team says they put in every meal they make.

"KOKORO has been successfully growing its strategy supported by its strong food delivery sales. KOKORO's chicken katsu curry is one of the most ordered items on Deliveroo. We are focused on providing authentic, healthy and tasty food while adding more vegan options."
