LUCENA CITY – A suspected thief was killed on Friday, December 2, after he resisted arrest and fought the policeman who was trying to convince him to surrender in Batangas City.

The Batangas police, in a report Saturday, December 3, said Joseph Bunquin reported that his mobile phone was stolen by Geronimo Rivera in Barangay Sta. Clara around 3 p.m.A police team led by Staff Sergeant Windell Borillo, a member of the elite Special Weapons and Tactics , responded and cornered Rivera in his house.

Report said Borillo tried to convince Rivera to peacefully surrender but the suspect, armed with a bolo, reportedly attacked the policeman twice.
