Young Lauren gave birth to the child in August, following a harrowing ordeal where her father and corrupt lawyer Joel Deering drugged her in an attempt to end both their lives. As viewers will remember, Joel was guilty of grooming and abusing young girls, including Lauren, who fled for several months after he left her for dead.
Once inside the interview room, Lauren maintained the lieuntil a sudden confession shattered the facade; she admitted to delivering the fatal blow. The attending officer, Kit , then informed Lauren of the likely murder charge, leaving her in anguish at the thought of losing her son forever. As the storyline took this turn, Corrie fans began to worry that Lauren's confession could mark her departure from the show, fearing she would be imprisoned for Joel's murder.
