Coronation Street's Catherine Tyldesley breaks social media silence after former co-star accused of cryptic 'cakegate' dig
Catherine Tyldesley has taken to social media for the first time since she branded claims she was involved in trying to bag free cakes for her upcoming birthday as 'cakegate'. The row ensued when a bakery owner hit out after it revealed it had declined a PR company's request on behalf of an unidentified 'well-known' celebrity asking for the sweet treats for a 40th birthday in September.
In the email, the PR company asked for the products in exchange for 'social media exposure' and an appearance in OK! Magazine and while neither the bakery or the PR company named the famous face, other media reports later revealed the event revolved around Catherine, who is set to celebrate her 40th birthday next month.Following the reports, the actress took to social media to deny all of the claims.
She captioned the clip: "CAKE GATE - The Truth," before addressing each matter raised as she did so in her video. The former soap star rounded off her message by writing: "I genuinely do hope the bakery has got some exposure and received lots of new orders! I’ve always supported local and small businesses. The abuse I have been receiving online is horrendous so hopefully this will put an end to it. And here’s to turning 40! Love Cath x.
But on Thursday evening , Catherine, who played Eva Price in the ITV soap, posted a snap to her Instagram Story as she appeared to be working. Posting a picture of herself and an unnamed woman, Catherine posted a clapperboard emoji and wrote: "#reunited thank you @gillymediamakeup."
