These days, Tony Maudsley is recognised for his portrayal as the resident Weatherfield undertaker George Shuttleworth in Corrie, however, he has other major credits to his name too
Since joining the cast of Coronation Street in 2020, actor Tony Maudsley has quickly established himself as a fan favourite. The 55 year old first landed on the cobbles of Weatherfield as George Shuttleworth, the son of undertaker Archie Shuttleworth, after he inherited his father's funeral directory.
Plus, it seems that Tony is a huge fan of the character himself, and even told Inside Soap in 2021 that Corrie bosses can't get rid of George "as there would be no one to bury him."Luckily for Tony, he's set to remain on the cobbles until at least 2024, as earlier this year, he announced to his Twitter followers that he'd signed a new contract with the soap.
Tony is also known for his iconic Benidorm character, Kenneth du Beke When Tony first appeared on Corrie, we guarantee plenty of people pointed at their tellys and gushed: "That's Kenneth the hairdresser from Benidorm!" During his time at the Solana and in Benidorm, Kenneth was renowned for his slogan T-shirts and tiny hot pants. Not to mention his tendency to never open the salon due to being too hungover from his nightly karaoke sessions in the Old Town.
