“The first phase of the cemetery will provide burial space for the community of Wishaw and surrounding areas for at least ten years.”Improvement works have been recently completed at other local cemeteries, including drainage at Old Monkland in Coatbridge and St Patricks in New Stevenston, footpath and drainage at Cambusnethan; and foundation works in a new section at Bothwellhaugh, within Strathclyde Country Park.

The plans include a new building with storage and welfare facilities for operatives and visitors along with external storage compound, road upgrades, parking waiting area, landscaping and other features. The council agreed to build a road across the field from the corner of Pather’s Rannoch Drive/Hospital Road to Dimsdale Road at the entrance to the new cemetery.
