A leading county councillor says he will not be resigning in a row over the 'illegal' felling of an English oak tree in Shrewsbury.During an interview with BBC Radio Shropshire, Councillor Morris accused Councillor Bentick of"self-promotion" in picking up what he called a “technicality”. Councillor Bentick has asked Councillor Morris to consider stepping down over the issue.
Residents are said to be"furious" that the council did not carry out an official consultation into the felling, which is required now but was not then.
