Thibaut Courtois has been a top goalkeeper for over a decade, making a name for himself with Genk before winning trophies with every team he's played for. From league titles to Premier League winners' medals at Chelsea, the 32-year-old has achieved many of his dreams. A lifelong fan of Manchester United, Courtois admitted he was eager to join the club in 2011. He was drawn to United because of his idol, legendary goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar, as well as Iker Casillas.
Courtois looked up to both of them, particularly Casillas for his early success at Real Madrid. Appearing on The Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast, Courtois explained why he never signed for United. He revealed that the club had already signed David de Gea, which influenced his career path. Although de Gea's arrival at Old Trafford prevented Courtois' dream move, it ultimately paved the way for his loan spell at Atletico Madrid. Courtois expressed that this transfer was crucial for his development as a goalkeeper. He spent three years at Atletico, winning the LaLiga title in 2014, and established himself as one of the world's best shot-stoppers. Returning to Chelsea, Courtois helped them win the Premier League in 2015 and 2017 before making a £35m move to Real Madrid in 2018.
