The force said the city centre is set to be 'exceptionally busy'
Greater Manchester Police has issued a travel warning for Manchester city centre this evening ahead of Manchester United's game against Glasgow Rangers.
The force said the city centre and surrounding areas are expected to be 'exceptionally busy', urging those travelling in town to 'plan ahead'. The red devils will take on Rangers in the Europa League at 8pm on Thursday at Old Trafford. Traffic is expected to be at its heaviest between 5pm and 7:30pm, with officers telling passengers to expect heavy traffic and busy tram lines.
Traffic reporting system Inrix has also warned people to expect extra traffic on Chester Road, Trafford Road, Talbot Road, the Mancunian Way, Regent Road, the M602 and M60 In a post on X, GMP said: "Plan ahead if traveling between 5pm and 7:30pm today! Manchester United vs. Glasgow Rangers at Old Trafford means the city centre and surrounding areas will be exceptionally busy.
