We have identified several parts of the road where multiple incidents have occurred
Every year, thousands of accidents take place on the roads of Nottinghamshire - some being minor and others having serious or even fatal consequences. Using crash map data from the Department for Transport, we have taken a closer look at the incidents on some of the county's major roads from 2018 to 2022, including the A52, A46 and the A1.
The three roads which have been identified as some of the most dangerous in the county include the A1, where in the 35 miles of the road between Shire Dyke to just before River Torne, there were 61 serious and nine fatal incidents. Similarly, on the 32 miles of the A46 stretching from just after the exit for Willoughby on Wolds to the Collingham exit after Newark, there were 66 serious and 14 fatal incidents.
There were also more than 20 slight incidents, eight serious and one fatal at the stretch of the A52 Brian Clough Way that passes the Bramcote Island roundabout. Some of the more noticeable areas of the road for accidents included the 0.3 stretch between Lenton Hall Drive and the roundabout with Middleton Boulevard.
"Whilst works have not been committed as they are subject to funding we will continue to talk with the National Highways agency to ask for improvements to be made." Not too far away, the half-mile stretch of Clifton Boulevard from its junction with Clifton Lane to where it splits off for the Queen's Drive roundabout also had eight serious and two fatal incidents.
"My personal thought is that traffic lights would be welcome to prevent future accidents." People should also be cautious of the junctions to Ambleside and Tollerton Lane at the A52 Gamston Lings Bar.
