A crime boss threatened to involve 'the Albanian ' to settle a £600,000 debt. Asim Tufail, 52, faces a lengthy jail sentence for his role in drug and gun plots .
The pair also advertised firearms for sale within a network of other criminals on the EncroChat communications network. Asim was known as ‘Assassin New’ while his son was known as ‘Baby Assassin’ on EncroChat. They were both arrested at Manchester Airport in January 2021 before they were due to board a flight to Dubai.
"His reputation was well known. He had capital available to engage in a variety of criminal activities." Asim Tufail’s barrister Elouise Marshall KC said there was an ‘element of bravado’ and ‘showing off’ in his EncroChat messages. “For all his talk, very little actually took place,” she said. “His role was not as great as the Crown might like to suggest. They weren’t really ever in a position to provide firearms.”
Two other men are due to be sentenced as part of the case. Danny Parmar, 42, dealt in cocaine and cannabis and was also involved in a firearm plot with Asim Tufail, EncroChat messages revealed.
