An armed robber was tackled by brave customers during a post office raid.

Asheque Patwary donned a wig as he carried out the raid at the shop in Dyke Road, Knightswood, Glasgow on December 12, 2022.Prosecutor Chris McIntosh told the High Court in Glasgow how Patwary had pushed his way behind the counter at the post office and brandished a metal cosh in a plastic bag at a female worker."She refused to give him any money, so he approached the till."But, customers waiting in a queue held the door shut determined he would not leave.

Mr McIntosh went on:"One struggled with him and noticed that there was a knife sticking out of the waistband of his trousers, which he grabbed and gave to another customer."The advocate depute said:"He was pulled down and restrained until police arrived."He made one final failed bid from freedom as he was hauled out of the shop.The bag he had used to stuff some of the loot into was found still at the post office.Around 1.

Carrying a rucksack and again wearing a wig, he grabbed a bank worker by the arm while also wielding a knife.Patwary pleaded guilty in court to carrying out the two assault and robberies.Lord Colbeck remanded him pending sentencing next month in Stirling.
