The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad will resume operations this Friday after a 2-month-long pause to improve train operations and safety.

The improvements to some of the cars also focused on accessibility; the chairs in some dining cars were removed to allow wheelchair users to enjoy meals, as well.Changes beyond the trains themselves focused on safety, allowing the CVSR team to respond to emergencies and issues faster. “We added the Summit County radio systems that we didn’t have before, which allow us to communicate directly with first responders in case there is an issue,” Mazur said.
Manager of train operations Bill Kizer added they’ve “rewritten entire rulebook from previous forms, so all the train crews have to learn that and be proficient before they start operations...we have event recorders on the trains, we have cameras.” It’s all part of an effort to provide the best experience possible to their audience—a return the whole train team is looking forward to this weekend.Copyright 2024 WOIO.
