New comedy series Daddy Issues starring Sex Education icon and Manchester local Aimee Lou Wood will debut on BBC Three this week
Daddy Issues follows eclectic weekend partier Gemma whose life turns upside down after a vacation hook up leaves her pregnant. She must simultaneously handle her pregnancy and help her devastated dad Malcolm following his marriage's breakdown.
Her father, played by David Morrissey finds himself single as they both go through a transformative time. "At the beginning of the series Gemma and Malcolm feel like strangers to one another," Aimee Lou, 29, from Stockport, explained. Aimee Lou had been a big fan of her co-star David, 60, for a long time. She shared: "I found out David Morrissey would be playing Malcolm and I was like I HAVE to do it, I have to play David Morrissey’s daughter because I’ve loved him since I was a kid in everything he’s done.
The pair formed a fast bond while forming and Wood described working with Morrissey as "heaven. Honestly I just love him and I hope he’s in my life forever".
