Pressure is growing for Nottingham City Council to fully publish a damning report into its financial controls.
Nottingham City Council's leader has defended the fact that a damning review into the authority's finances is being kept secret - despite mounting pressure for its full release. Labour's David Mellen, who has not even been allowed to see the full publication himself, says not all reports are "meant for everybody to see."
But defending the council's refusal to publish in full, Councillor Mellen told Nottinghamshire Live: "It's a technical report commissioned by officers, for officers. In all of our worlds, there are reports that are not meant for everybody to see." The question asked the chair of the council's audit committee if it was routine practice for it to "make fiscal decisions using taxpayers' money without thorough knowledge of the facts.
