Racing driver Daniel Ricciardo is one of Australia’s highest-profile athletes, but he could've fallen through the cracks at school. He wants to make sure that doesn't happen to the next generation.

While the program particularly appeals to neurodiverse students — like Harper, who lives with ADHD and autism — anyone who feels they might benefit from it can apply."There's a whole heap of reasons that kids can be disengaged in school," Hands on Learning's Cam Wiseman said. Over the years it's grown with the help of state governments and philanthropists, but now Mr Wiseman is hoping it will go national, with the help of the federal government.
"Like this whole area we set out with a laser level and so that all the water flows towards our wetlands. "The thing that happens is … when a class of [a kid's] peers come and use something that he's built and that he is proud of, it's the best," he said."A kid says, 'Check out how good this is' and the kid who created this space, it's amazing, their shoulders puff out and it's just — it's cool to watch."The program has helped Harper enjoy school after years of struggling with traditional, classroom-based learning.
