17-year-old Luke Littler confidently faces Michael van Gerwen in the PDC World Darts Championship final, aiming for his first world title after a dominant semi-final victory.
Ahead of his showdown with Michael van Gerwen in the PDC World Darts Championship final on Friday evening, the teenage prodigy Luke Littler has made a bold statement. After demolishing Stephen Bunting with a 6-1 victory in the semi-final, the 17-year-old is eyeing the pinnacle of glory once more, following his impressive run to the final on his World Championships debut last year, where he was bested by Luke Humphries.
The 2025 tournament saw Humphries ousted by Peter Wright in the last-16, quashing the prospects for what could have been a memorable semi-final clash against Littler. Nevertheless, the young darting phenomenon had to display grit to overcome Ryan Joyce in the quarter-finals before effortlessly dispatching crowd-favourite Bunting in the penultimate stage. Van Gerwen, meanwhile, surged back into form, overcoming Callan Rydz and Chris Dobey in his journey to meet Littler in the final. The 35-year-old, having just picked up a win over Dobey on Thursday, seeks to capture his first world title since 2019, but standing between him and the trophy is the formidable Littler. Following his resounding win, Littler didn't hold back his thoughts while speaking to Sky Sports. 'If we both turn up like we did tonight, it's going to be really good,' he confidently stated. 'As soon as Luke Humphries went out then that's what everyone was looking at. 'I just had to focus on my quarter-finals and semi-finals, now I can focus on Michael tomorrow. We all know he's hunting for that next world title, I'm hunting for my first.' He further added: 'I don't know . Obviously I've played a lot better, I've won plenty of titles leading up to this but that is what we do. We lead up to the big one. There's majors all year round but I can't wait for tomorrow night.
