West Ham boss David Moyes gives his reaction after 1-0 defeat at home to Everton in the Premier League

West Ham United manager David Moyes hailed the displays of goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and the Everton defence as his side failed to score for the first time this season in a 1-0 home defeat.

“We were looking for cut-backs and obviously the stats will say we didn’t have many on target but it was mainly because of the blocking that Everton were doing as they’re very good at it and they made it hard for us to score.”VERDICT: Everton send perfect message to 777 Partners as five players change everythingThe former Blues boss added: “We were probably not as good as we’d like, that’s for sure.

“That’s a problem for us but let’s be fair that’s the first game we’ve not scored a goal this season so there’s another way you could spin that depending how you look at it. I thought we missed the chances today, two or three opportunities to score and we didn’t take them although I don’t think it was ever going to be a game with nine or 10 opportunities and probably wasn’t for either team.”
