A dental surgeon says many people don't realise they are using mouthwash incorrectly. And by doing so, the oral health expert warns it could be causing harm to their teeth and gums.
The dental expert advises brushing your teeth and refraining from rinsing immediately afterwards. "After you've brushed your teeth, spit and avoid rinsing out. Leave that fluoride layer to do what it needs to do," she said, reports the Express. Dr Manouchehri, with nearly ten years under her belt, added: "Use before brushing to loosen any particles or at a different time in the day - for example when you've had tea, coffee or lunch. This is the right thing to do - not brushing."
"Also, if you're going to use a fluoride mouthwash, that is good but it's no replacement for fluoride toothpaste because fluoride toothpaste has three times the amount of fluoride compared to mouthwash."
