Investigators were working to identify a suspect in the shooting. It happened Monday afternoon near Barranca and Garvey avenues.
A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department motorcycle deputy was saved by his bulletproof vest after he was shot in the back near the 10 Freeway in West Covina on Monday, April 22, with authorities working to identify and find the shooter.
Aispuro, 43, has served with the sheriff’s department just shy of two decades. Currently, he works out of the Century Station in Lynwood, and was in West Covina for training on Monday, according to Supervisor Janice Hahn. A search was underway for a white sedan with tinted windows that was last seen heading west on the 10 Freeway.
“I have a public servant sitting at a red light, which sounds a little familiar with what has happened to us in the past,” said Luna, who added LASD was sharing information on the shooting with its personnel as well as local law enforcement agencies in hopes of preventing another shooting.
