The woman had managed to walk an hour in her socks before calling for help.
A mountain rescue team helped to bring a couple's muddy misery to an end after they found themselves in trouble during a walk in the Peak District.
The team said the woman walked for an hour in her socks as darkness descended before they called for help when she could no longer feel her feet. He said: "When we arrived, they were clearly very cold and wet. We put them in a casualty shelter and started warming them up with hot drinks and jelly babies for energy.
