Diablo 4 players complain about game’s “third world country” economy DiabloIV Diablo4 Blizzard

Diablo 4 and most ARPG’s in general are designed in a way that keeps you playing even after the main story has ended. The constant search for more resources and better loot is a never-ending, dopamine-inducing grind that often has players coming back for more even after clearing most of what the game has to offer initially.

Unfortunately, it appears that Diablo 4’s “third world country” economy is preventing fans from fully enjoying the endgame content available as the nonsensical pricing structures throughout Sanctuary are seemingly making players go broke faster than an impulsive gambler.

Since gems are found freely and frequently while you’re playing, you always get stuck with more than what you need. Sadly, selling these shiny jewels to make a profit is out of the question since you’ll only be getting less than ten gold in return. This problem is made even worse due to the fact that it takes nearly 50 times that amount just to make a single Royal Gem at the Jeweler, meaning you won’t even be able to recoup your losses by selling some of your extra stones.

A similar issue is present with Diablo 4’s weapons and armor prices as these pieces of equipment cost exponentially more to buy compared to what you can get by selling them. Finally, the most egregious pricing structure of all is the endgame Paragon board refund cost, which, at higher levels, will have you spending millions.

Based on most of the comments below the thread, it seems that a large portion of the community is also struggling with the current design of the Diablo 4 economy. Hopefully, the developers can address these issues soon or more players might just end up dropping the game entirely in the near future.
