A new partnership between Transport for Greater Manchester and local Credit Unions offers bus passengers the chance to pay for an annual Bee Network bus ticket in instalments, reducing costs by up to £250 annually. Additional benefits include a £2 'hopper fee' and discounted weekly tickets.
Bus passengers in Greater Manchester can now take advantage of discounted travel through a new partnership between Transport for Greater Manchester and ten local Credit Unions . This partnership allows for the payment of an annual Bee Network bus ticket in monthly or weekly instalments, offering significant savings of up to £250 per year compared to other fares. The annual ticket can be paid in £67 monthly or £15 weekly instalments, which is cheaper than the 28-day and 7-day passes.
Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham announced the scheme, emphasizing its financial benefits and potential to encourage long-term sustainable public transport use. Additionally, the scheme aims to promote the use of credit unions and reduce commuting costs, potentially aiding job seekers. Other new initiatives include a £2 ‘hopper fee’ allowing unlimited bus rides within an hour and a £1 discount on weekly tickets, both set to take effect from December 5
