The Department of Energy (DOE) is pushing for the quick rollout of the electric vehicles in the country in a bid to reduce country's dependence on fossil fuels and eventually contribute to the measures to fight climate change. ManilaBulletin READ:

In a statement, the DOE said it aims to roll out out around 2,454,200 eletric vehicles composed of cars, tricycles, and motorcycles to help save the environment and generate investments for a new industry by 2028.

The move is deemed as in support of the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act’s initiative of "creating an enabling environment for the development of the electric vehicles industry in the country. The EO, however, did not include e-motorcycles in the tax breaks, which prompted several stakeholders to urge the national government to reconsider its decision, explaining that motorcycles comprise the majority of motorists in the country.
