The pup developed a severe infection after being bitten in a busy park and the vet believes the marks are by an adder.

Within days after a walk in Bellahouston Park in Glasgow on Saturday, April 6 the dog's owner was concerned when it appeared 'lame' and struggled to put weight on its leg.

A post was issued to public Facebook page, Friends of Bellahouston Park, on Wednesday urging dog walkers to be vigilant. It said: "WARNING: this is not fiction. My neighbour's dog became lame on Sunday 7th April, he appeared okay but he wouldn't put weight on leg. "Springtime is when adders are coming out of their hibernation. Please be vigilant. Fingers crossed the dog makes a full recovery."
