Borussia Dortmund have reversed their initial stance and are now pushing to sign Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford on loan, according to Sky Germany. AC Milan also remain very much in the picture for the England international. Meanwhile, AC Milan are prioritising Rashford over Manchester City's Kyle Walker in the January transfer window.

Borussia Dortmund are now intensifying their pursuit of Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford , according to Sky Germany. Dortmund has conducted internal discussions and has decided to pursue the England international on a loan deal. Earlier this week, the Bundesliga side had distanced themselves from a potential deal, with Rashford not being head coach Nuri Sahin's preferred target. The anticipated cost, even with subsidies, was reportedly deemed beyond Dortmund's financial capabilities.

However, their stance appears to have shifted. AC Milan also remains very serious about their interest and is actively working to secure a deal for Rashford. Rashford's representatives have engaged with several European clubs this month to explore the terms of a potential transfer. Manchester United's preference is believed to be a straight loan departure for Rashford if they consent to his exit from Old Trafford. Rashford was once again omitted from the matchday squad for Manchester United's Premier League encounter against Southampton on Thursday night. Following Manchester United's FA Cup third-round victory against Arsenal last weekend, manager Ruben Amorim was asked if Rashford had played his last game for the club. Amorim responded, 'I don't know. We will see.'In a separate development, Sky Italy reports that Rashford is AC Milan's top priority over Manchester City's Kyle Walker during the January transfer window. Pep Guardiola confirmed last weekend that Walker and his representatives are 'exploring' his options after informing outgoing sporting director Txiki Begiristain of his desire to move abroad. According to Sky Italy, AC Milan had previously inquired about the defender sometime ago in case Fikayo Tomori left the club, but his transfer was blocked by the arrival of new manager Sergio Conceicao. It remains uncertain whether this situation might be different now, but Milan can only register one English player due to current Serie A regulations. Serie A clubs are allowed to register up to three non-EU players per season, and an additional player from the UK or Albania if they have no current non-EU players. If they already have one or two non-EU players, they can add a maximum of two more non-EU players. If they have more than two non-EU players, they can purchase two more non-EU players, but one of them must have played for their national team in the preceding 12 months. This season, Milan could only acquire two new non-EU players due to the number of spots already filled. They did so in the summer with the signings of Emerson Royal from Tottenham and Strahinja Pavlovic from Red Bull Salzburg. Consequently, Milan only have one remaining spot available for a UK (or Albanian) player. Even if they sell a non-EU player, they are still unable to sign another UK-based player. It is one slot per registration period (season).
