Supporters gathered at Patricia Lanes to cheer on these Special Olympians, all of whom share a goal of reaching the Alabama Special Olympic State Games. ”So, depending on the quota that the state Special Olympics and how well they perform today will decide who gets to go,” Clayton Paramore, the therapeutic recreational supervisor of Dothan Leisure Services, said.
But this tournament is more than about winning, it is a confidence boost and teaches good sportsmanship.”I feel okay with the scores. I got a spare in bowling,” Ashley explained.”It’s kind of a blessing, because you get to see even though they are not able to do everything that we can do... when you get to work with them, work close with them, you see that they can do what everybody else can and it’s kind of jaw-dropping to see” Paramore said.
