Auburn Tigers pitcher and Dothan native Chase Allsup was selected 127th overall by the Baltimore Orioles in the 4th Round of the 2024 MLB Draft on Monday.DOTHAN, Ala. - Another Wiregrass area native has received his ticket for the “Road to the Show,” as Auburn Tigers junior pitcher Chase Allsup was selected 127th overall by the Baltimore Orioles in the 4th Round of the 2024 MLB Draft on Monday.
Allsup, a 2021 graduate of Dothan High School, is making the jump to the pros after a solid three years on The Plains, where he served in both relief and starting roles on the mound for the Tigers. In those three years, Allsup produced a 6-5 record with 19 starts and 56 appearances in his collegiate career with an ERA of 5.11, 4 saves and 159 strikeouts among a multitude of other impressive stats from the righty.
Before his college days, Allsup was a highly touted standout for the Dothan Wolves. He was rated as the top right-hander out of high school and the 4th rated prospect from the state of Alabama. His 9-1 record with a 1.73 ERA and 107 strikeouts during his senior season, earning him ASWA 7A First Team All-State honors.
Allsup also competed during his high school days with Louisiana Knights Black and Dothan Dragons baseball, producing a 3-0 record with a 0.72 ERA and 56 strikeouts in 29.1 innings. He was named a participant in the 2020 Perfect Game National Showcase and was selected to the Top Prospect Team, while also earning High Honorable Mention Preseason Underclass All-America honors in 2019 and Second Team honors in 2020.
