New plans have been put forward
Dozens of vacant and abandoned garages at a site in Mapperley Park could be demolished in a move which could lead to the plot being redeveloped. Applicant Matthew Chapman, of Johns of Nottingham Ltd, said the leasehold to a plot of land containing 30 garages had recently been bought.
But the documents outline an intention to build on the cleared site in the future. A statement in the application reads: "All the garages are vacant and owned by us, our intention is to demolish the garages and hopefully develop the land subject to planning permission."However our initial priority is to demolish the garages due to health and safety reasons. Some of the garages are secured but some of them are open, we have secured the plot with fencing but access is still available.
Mechanic Martin Lacey, 49, said: “I don’t think people in the area will have much of a problem with new homes - it does however depend on how many houses are being built as this is a very quiet area.
