A strong first half pushed Dothan United to a crucial 4-0 win over Athens United.
DOTHAN, Ala. - On a beautiful Saturday night at Rip Hewes Stadium, the Dothan United Dragons knew that with the regular season winding down they need a pair of confident, high scoring showings between tonight and next Saturday’s finale to keep any hopes of a playoff run tonight.
Dothan United very quickly got themselves on the board against the visitors, as a perfect through ball on the left side found the foot of Alec Palanjian who would slot it by the Athens goalie to make it 1-0 in the 5th minute. Less than a minute later, DUSC found themselves with the ball once more and got it in position in front of the net for Aaron Garrote to score push it from left to right past the goalkeeper and make it 3-0, with that score holding until the half.
The victory brings Dothan United up to 15 points in the USL League 2 South Central Division, while Athens United remains at 6 points.
