TxDOT plans to close lanes on I-10, Loop 410 and Loop 1604 this weekend as part of highway improvement projects
San Antonio drivers should expect traffic headaches this weekend as the Texas Department of Transportation plans to shut down the crossing of Interstate 10 and Loop 1604 and will also close lanes on Loop 410 to do construction work. The state agency says it will close the southbound lanes on Loop 410 just south of its crossing with Interstate 35 — at exit 30, for Binz Engleman Road — from 11 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for road surface repair.
Tell us which San Antonio highway you hate the most The work is being done as part of TxDOT's I-35 Northeast Expansion project, also known as I-35 NEX, in which Interstate 35 is being expanded with three elevated lanes running each way. The project is being done in segments. The 'central' segment, running from Roy Richard Drive north of Loop 1604 to the interstate's crossing with Loop 410, has a price tag of $1.5 billion and is expected to be completed in late 2027.
