I stayed in London for a week, before camping near Epping Forest forover the weekend. On the second night, I had a serious asthma attack in the middle of the night and needed a colleague’s help to get to my inhaler.
To organise the trip, I had to do a lot of driving too. If you forget everything else I’ve said, then know that driving is also exhausting for most people. Between driving on main A-roads, the M25 and M23, as well as spending time in Central London and Brighton Town – the most driving I have done in years – to pick up everything I needed for my camping trip, I was left panicked and anxiety-ridden.
In the six years that I have had my current car, I have only driven 13,000 miles for this exact reason.
Why have we decided in Britain that such a service is unachievable? Why do so many drivers think the only way they can get around easily is with their cars. I live in Wellingborough, so I know public transport outside London has its challenges, but these are things that can – and should – be improved.
