Two individuals were sentenced to three years in prison for drug dealing after their car was stopped by police in Clitheroe.

Two individuals involved in drug dealing were apprehended by police after their suspicious vehicle was stopped. Zahoor Hussain, 39, was driving, while his accomplice, Rayhan Khan, 18, was a passenger in their black Volkswagen Jetta. Police officers in Clitheroe observed the car, suspecting its use in drug trafficking, and subsequently stopped it on Henthorn Road. During the traffic stop, Khan attempted to conceal an item that turned out to be a bag containing 11 snap bags of cocaine.

A further search of the vehicle revealed additional drugs, a mobile phone, and £105 in cash where Khan was seated. Hussain's mobile phone was also seized, containing messages related to drug dealing. The incident occurred on March 31, 2022. Both Hussain, from Lowergate Road, Accrington, and Khan, from Brougham Street, Burnley, were sentenced to three years in prison after appearing in court on Monday, February 10.DC Tom Archer of the East Targeting Team stated, 'Thanks to proactive and inquisitive policing, these two drug dealers are now off the streets of Lancashire. I hope this case and resulting sentence send a strong message that Lancashire Police and the courts will not tolerate anyone attempting to deal drugs on our county's streets.' A spokesperson for the police force added that the action was taken as part of Operation Warrior, a comprehensive initiative aimed at combating serious and organized crime in Lancashire. This operation aligns with Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw's Fighting Crime Plan priority of disrupting and dismantling organized crime groups.Lancashire Police also announced the launch of a new WhatsApp community to provide the latest news directly to users' phones.
