Department of Social Welfare and Development Secretary Rex Gatchalian on Feb. 17 issued a stern warning against scammers who spread text messages about “unclaimed” cash aid to target vulnerable sectors, such as senior citizens.

Gatchalian reiterated that there is no such relief allowance given by the DSWD to the elderly and retired individuals. The assistance is extended through the Crisis Intervention Unit of the DSWD at the central office and in all field offices across the country.
