The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) has issued an urgent warning banning a series of number plates from the roads
The DVLA has taken urgent action to ban a series of number plates, issuing a warning to motorists, road users, and drivers as the New Year kicks off following the festive season. Some of the prohibited plates make reference to the Ukraine war and Middle Eastern conflict, according to the DVLA.
With the "25" number identifier coming into effect on March 1 as new cars roll onto forecourts, and the "75" plate available from September 1, drivers are eager to snap up the latest registrations. Mark Trimbee, CEO of Regtransfers, commented on the bans, finding amusement in the DVLA's judgement of certain plates as too offensive for the roads. He remarked: "They shouldn't be used to display genuinely harmful messages or views."
He acknowledged the challenge the DVLA faces, saying: "To ban or not to ban is obviously a bit of a balancing act." Trimbee pointed out that beyond the typical references to sex and violence, some combinations might initially appear innocuous but can imply anti-British sentiments upon closer inspection, potentially causing offence, reports Birmingham Live. Examples he gave include GB25 BAD, GB25 BOM, and GB25 SHT.**25 LUT**.AA25 HLE.
