Millions of motorists may not realise they need to act when going abroad
The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency is reminding millions of UK drivers they may need to pay a small fee. DVLA is the government department responsible for issuing driving licences and monitoring motorists across the country.
The alert reads: "If you’re planning to drive abroad, you might need an international driving permit . IDPs are now exclusively available from participating PayPoint stores across the UK." A link included within the alert explains the issue further. In order to obtain an IDP, you'll need to pay an application fee of £5.50. You'll also need to hold a full valid GB or Northern Ireland driving licence, photocard or an older paper licence, and have a recent passport photo you can use for the application.
