The Winter Fuel Payment has been boosted this year to help with the cost of heating homes
Millions of households across the country have been put on alert as they could be eligible for a payment of up to £600 from November 1.
This winter, the payments are being boosted by £300 to help older people with the rising cost of heating their homes. The DWP is sending out letters to those eligible outlining what they will receive, reports Birmingham Live. The support helps those born before September 25, 1957 with heating costs during winter and is potentially worth as much as £600, depending on people's circumstances. The DWP will start making payments from November 1 but some people may be waiting a while longer before they receive the cash.
If you’ve had a Winter Fuel Payment before, you do not need to claim again unless you’ve deferred your state pension or moved abroad. Full details on eligibility and payments are available here.
