The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has announced a major shake-up to Jobcentres across the UK in a bid to get more people into work. Here's everything you need to know
The Department for Work and Pensions has revealed plans for a major overhaul of Jobcentres across the UK, with the aim of getting more people into employment. The department intends to transform these centres from a " one-size-fits-all benefits administration service" into a national jobs, employment and careers service.
The proposal is to revamp Jobcentres and merge them with the National Careers Service to establish a public employment service. The reforms will also require young people to engage in education or employment, as the number of 16 to 24-year-olds not involved in either has reached its highest level in ten years. The DWP will start testing new concepts and designs for its online services next year to see how it can provide tailored support.
