From next week, two groups of pensioners will be able to make a phone claim support with their energy bills in the coming months, through the Winter Fuel Payment system. This can provide between £100 to £300 at a tough time of year, though the amount depends on age and circumstances, with only those born before September 23, 1944, getting the maximum £300.
Universal Credit claimants can get £812 loan if they're caught short this winter Guidance also advises that people can make a telephone claim for this year's payment from Monday, October 28 - postal claims opened on September 30.
