More than 20 respiratory conditions could receive extra financial support from PIP to help with daily living costs

More than 100,000 Brits suffering from a respiratory health condition could receive hundreds of pounds in extra financial support from the Department for Work and Pensions . Those suffering from severe asthma, upper respiratory tract disease, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease , Asbestosis, and other health issues affecting their breathing could be eligible for PIP.

Asthma and Living UK's latest figures reveal that there are currently 5.4 million people across the UK receiving treatment for asthma. The charity's statistics also indicate that approximately 160,000 people nationwide are diagnosed with asthma annually, and roughly 250,000 adults and children are living with severe asthma, reports the Daily Record.

The guidance on GOV.UK clarifies: "As the assessment principles consider the impact of a claimant's condition on their ability to live independently and not the condition itself, claimants with the same condition may get different outcomes. The outcome is based on an independent assessment and all available evidence."Chronic obstructive pulmonary diseaseOther condition types
