Martin Lewis has warned you could lose your benefits if you ignore a Universal Credit migration letter being sent to thousands
People who claim six different government benefits have been warned not to ignore a ‘crucial’ letter landing on their doormats. Consumer champion Martin Lewis has urged people receiving ‘tax credits, housing benefit, ESA or similar’ to pay attention to the correspondence or risk losing benefits.
Photo credit : Shutterstock In his latest Money Saving Expert newsletter, Martin highlighted the importance of paying attention to the letter. 'The Department for Work and Pensions is sending letters to many people saying you must now apply to switch to Universal Credit,' he said. 'Don't ignore it – tragically, DWP stats show a third have had benefits cut off after not applying.
How do I know if I’m being moved over? When you’re due to be migrated you will receive a letter from the government. This is known as a Migration Notice.
