The Child Maintenance Service deals with how payments are made to cover the living cost of a child who does not live with both of their parents
Parents are being urged to have their say over potential reforms to child maintenance. A consultation deadline has been pushed back to give more people the chance to have their voice heard.
The Department for Work and Pensions said it wants more people and organisations to step forward and provide insight into the consultation. Planned measures from the DWP which were launched under the previous government include stopping the Direct Pay service, allowing CMS to tackle non-compliance faster and allow enforcement action more quickly whenever necessary.
"The extension of the consultation into the Child Maintenance Service that we’ve announced today will ensure that we provide the best possible opportunity to hear the concerns and thoughts of expert groups and individuals."
