The lump sum is worth up to £600
The Department for Work and Pensions has announced the full details of who will get this year's Winter Fuel Payments worth up to £600. The lump sum will be paid directly to millions of eligible households across the UK to help with their heating bills during the expensive winter months, Lancs Live reports.
Most people who claim the State Pension should receive the 2023 Winter Fuel Payment automatically. However others will need to make a claim, which can be done by post from September 18 or over the phone from October 4. This means eligible households could receive between £250 and £600, BirminghamLive reports. Some 11.6 million people over State Pension age received up to £600 in Winter Fuel Payments and cost of living support by December last year.
