The parents are asking South Lanarkshire Council to enforce 'stricter measures' and provide more resources for youth programs in a bid to battle the 'bullying problem'.
A petition has been launched by a group of East Kilbride parents who are calling for the local authority to take more action as youth violence rises in the area.
Concerned mum Sharon Bavaird previously told Glasgow Live that her 15-year-old daughter Tanith Bavaird was left with bloody missing chunks of hair, ripped clothes and bruises on her face and body after a gang of around 12 repeatedly hit her head off a kerb as they kicked, punched and stamped on the defenceless teen before attempting to set her hair alight.
It reads: "My daughter and many youths have been subjected to physical abuse by a core group of individuals in our town. "We need immediate action from local authorities to implement stricter measures and provide more resources for youth programs that can help prevent such violence. Please sign this petition to urge our community leaders to take swift action before another tragedy occurs."
