The Aurs Road project will include a promenade alongside the Balgray Reservoir and a 2km active travel route.
A £3 million funding shortfall is set to be plugged by East Renfrewshire Council to allow an Aurs Road active travel plan to progress.
Councillors will be asked to approve the use of £3m so the project can go ahead on Thursday, although it is hoped it can be claimed back through a new funding bid. Work will include the upgrade and realignment of 2km of Aurs Road from the junction of Springfield Road in Barrhead to Stewarton Road in Newton Mearns.
Initially, £5.7m had been secured through a grant from charity Sustrans, via Transport Scotland, to support the active travel part of the project. Grant funding cannot be carried over to 2024/25. Due to project delays, only £2.7m will be spent in 2023/24, meaning there will be a £3m shortfall for 2024/25.
