Food and drink prices rising at record pace

Rising milk, egg and margarine prices have contributed to a record increase in the cost of food and drink in shops, research suggests.

"Shoppers have been facing sustained price rises for some time now," said Fraser McKevitt, head of retail and consumer insight at Kantar. "This is having a big impact on people's lives. found that some basic goods have nearly doubled in price over the past two years.
