Misconduct hearing into allegations of offensive posts in WhatsApp group due to take place
Six police officers and two former officers are at the centre of a misconduct probe into 'offensive and derogatory' posts in a WhatsApp group. The eight are due to face a gross misconduct hearing later this month at Trafalgar House police station in Bradford.
West Yorkshire Police said: "It is alleged that between approximately 31st July 2020 and 11th September 2021 the above officers were part of a WhatsApp group where posts were made that may be considered inappropriate, offensive, and derogatory."It is alleged that the actions of the officers are a breach of the standards of Professional behaviour in relation to:
"Equality and Diversity – The officers conduct was not in accordance with the principles of fairness and impartiality. The officers have unfairly discriminated against others. "These matters are individually and/or collectively alleged to amount to gross misconduct, namely a breach of the Standards of Professional Behaviour that, if proved, is so serious that dismissal would be justified."
